Sean Gaydos

Sean began his career in lighting in a very untraditional way.  He actually went to school for it!  (Imagine, someone in this business who actually wanted to get into lighting)  Sean studied Illumination Engineering at the University of Colorado under the VERY strict tutelage of David DiLaura.  While attending this fine institution, Sean also learned other important lessons.  However, these typically involved two long sticks, a tall mountain and lots of snow.  While this may not have endeared him to his professors, it did keep him in great shape and provided a great “raccoon eyes” tan.  Even with the extra curricular activities, he graduated (on time we might add) and moved to Atlanta (The lighting Mecca of the universe) to work for one of the “big four”. Since then he has been employed in all aspects of the industry including large and small manufacturing, specification and distributor agencies, general contracting, and even as a lamp manufacturer.  This well-rounded experience has allowed Sean to see lighting from many different perspectives and helped create his unique approach to being a fixture manufacturer.  On his journeys he has served on many local Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) boards, taught various lighting courses at trade functions and local universities, and learned that no place has better parties then Lightfair Vegas.

Sean completed his Executive MBA at the University of Denver, and armed with nothing else to do, decided that it was the perfect opportunity to finally branch off on his own and start Ascent Lighting.   A  long time advocate of customer service and relationship based business, Sean strives to provide every customer with the same attention to detail, charismatic attitude, and knowledgeable suggestions.  His ultimate goal is to help others appreciate good lighting as much as he does.

Sean lives in Denver with his wife of fifteen years and their 5 year old son.  He enjoys everything Colorado has to offer including skiing, camping, hiking, road biking, and triathlons.  He also is a cancer,  likes long walks on the beach, and looks better in the dark, but that’s another story!

Interesting facts about Sean:

• Once drank 7 Red Bulls in a row just to see if his heart would explode
• Stares into lights on purpose because he likes the colored spots
• Uses no gel in his hair- it sticks up by itself (Its all natural baby!)
• Fell off his bike in the first four triathlons he ever did (it wasn’t pretty)
• Despite the way he acts, he has never been drunk in his entire life
• Likes ABBA, Barry Manilow, and the BeeGee’s
